How does Bespoke Gardens produce a garden design?

Before we start our garden design work for you, we spend time with you talking about you, your lifestyle, your garden and your garden design ideas. After all, you will want to be quite sure that we understand your likes, dislikes, needs, wants and desires for your garden. And we need to be sure that we have established a detailed garden design brief. In this way, by the time the garden design work starts there will be a written record of the garden design brief agreed between us, a specified budget, and a signed professional contract. If there are no existing scale plans of your garden, a detailed survey will also have been performed. The structural design will be worked up according to the garden design brief, and will include a plan view to scale of your garden. Further depictions such as sections, elevations, and axonometric or perspective drawings will be included where necessary. Technical drawings of any built structures and level changes in the garden will be included, along with plans for electrical wiring and/or piped water. The detailed garden design file will be completed by the inclusion of the necessary technical specifications and references to any relevant British and European Standards.

Bespoke Gardens will seek inspiration for the garden design in the geographical location of your garden, local history and traditions, and your garden design preferences. We will take into account the soil type, climate and location of your garden to produce a garden design that is not only attractive, but ecologically sustainable and appropriate to needs.

How does Bespoke Gardens produce a planting plan?

Unless you ask Bespoke Gardens to produce a planting plan for your garden the planting suggestions contained in the detailed garden design will be indicative only. Types of plants may be suggested but no detailed information on species will be provided. However, if you ask for a planting plan, specific plants for exact locations in the garden design will be provided, together with a planting schedule detailing the precise quantities and sizes of each plant. Once again, many factors will influence the choice of plants, including the location, orientation and size of your garden, the overall style of the garden design, the importance of year-round interest, your own preferences, any requirement to conserve water, and the risk of frost.

How does Bespoke Gardens perform a project management function?

If you decide to take on Bespoke Gardens to act as project manager throughout the construction phase, detailed tendering documentation will be prepared and sent out. Once you are happy with the choice of contractor and have signed a contract for the execution of the work, Bespoke Gardens will conduct a number of inspection visits to ensure that the work is being done to schedule and in a correct manner.
